Sharing Time

Each time we do writer's workshop and then silent share in class you get the opportunity not only to share your work with others, getting positive feedback, but you also get to read other classmates' stories and respond to their writings. What are the things you enjoy the most about the writer's workshop/silent share days? Be specific.

My favorite story was Dawn's on lying. It was funny, unique, and kept my attention. A lot of other students wrote interesting stories as well. Writer's workshop gives me the freedom to write on anything I want which I usually don't have time to do. However, sometimes I find it hard to think of something to write about even with the prompters. I like receiving feedback from peers though.

Writer's Workshop and silent share day is one of the most fun and best part of English/Composition. Being able to show that you can put what is in your head down on paper is one of a humans best qualities. And have positive feedback makes you warm all over. It makes me think about how you can inhance your abilities. Most people have great stories and others have magnificent, and being able to read what other people are thinking about is something I enjoy most of all!

  3. I like the writer's workshop its fun you can right about any topic within reason. Its away for me to free my writing and talk about whatever comes to mind that particular day. This past time I wrote about surviving in dangerous situations. The writer's workshops are fun i do believe we should do them more often. My classmates stories are good as well you can tell what there stories are about and how they connect to them. Stick with them!

Some things I enjoy about writer's workshop is learning different things about my classmates because some people write about stuff that they wouldn't talk about. It's also fun to see the humor that my classmates have when they make up their own stories. You also get to read about some classmates that you usually don't talk to in a normal school day. Writer's workshop days are relaxing days where you can write about anything.

I enjoy writer’s workshop because I get to tell about events that have or will happen in my life or just write about anything else that’s funny or serious. I like being able to improve in my own writing. I enjoy silent share because it's always fun to read up on funny stories (not to mention any names but he sits by your desk) and the life experiences of other people. It's always a fun experience. I also like the time to improve on my reading skills.

When we do writer's workshop I enjoy reading everyone's stories, because it gives me an idea of the kind of person they are when writing or in real life. For example when someone writes a wacky funny story, they like to make others laugh and have a great imagination. if someone writes about a sport event, they are serious, enjoy being around others, and aren't very imaginative.

My favorite part is reading the comments left by others on my page. Although I enjoy reading other peoples stories especially if they are made up. It is always entertaining to read what some of my classmate come up with. Sometimes I wish what they wrote had been made into a book.

The thing that i like most about reading other people's stories is that we get to learn more about them. Like what they did for vacation, favorite holiday/season, what they do during free time, and the best one is to were they just write to make us laugh. I also like it because then we get to write an essay or a paper about what every we want to as long as it is appropriate.

When we do writers workshop I enjoy the time to type the most because you can talk about anything you choose and your story doesn't have to be about anything in particular. I enjoy silent share days because I like reading about what other people chose to type and I like to see if its just as interesting as mine or even better.

The thing I like the most about writer's workshop days are that we get two days to write about anything we want. I think that being able to write about whatever comes to our mind is a lot more fun then writing about something that is assigned to us. I also like being able to read my classmates stories because a lot of them include strange thoughts or memories.

The things I most enjoy about writer’s workshop days is I get to just write about anything. If a random thought comes into my mind I can go on and on about it as much as I want. It is a good outlet of information from my head on to paper. What I enjoy most about silent share days is truly finding about how my classmates think. It amazes me how creative some of them are. It is fun reading stories from people I don’t get to talk to on a regular basic, and getting a feel for how their minds work.

It is a break from the regular days of class. If you can write something and it doesn't have to have perfect grammar or perfect information it makes writing more fun. It is also fun to read other peoples stories especially the funny ones.

  20. I'm reading Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. I enjoy reading my classmates' stories and their unexpected endings. During Writer’s Workshop, I especially enjoy reading the fantasy stories that make me wonder. I like reading my classmates’ stories because they are so different than published books. They are filled with new ideas. I like how they are surprising and have unexpected twists. The endings are never expected, which is so nice! I dislike reading some published books because I know what will happen at the end and I lose interest. It is nice to have refreshing material!

The things I like most about writers workshop is how you have no clue what the next person is going to write about. It could be about anything and everything. I also like it when you start in on a story and then it takes a big turn. Writers workshop is just full of unexpected stories that no one would ever think of.

First of all I like getting a break from writing an assigned essay. I like having the option to write whatever I want without any boundaries. I think reading what everyone else has written gives me an idea of what's going through their heads. I specifically like fiction stories people make up. Sometimes I'm surprised by how creative some people are. Writer's Workshop is one of my favorite things to do.

  26. The Unbecoming of Marla Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

I really enjoy reading people's stories who don't talk much in class. It is interesting to see what they have to say, or what kind of sense of humor they have. My favorite kind of stories are the very random ones that the guys in class put together. I also like to read very well put together fictional stories. In my opinion, I think it is very cool to get to know my classmates through what they write.

My favorite part of the writer's workshop days is getting to read other people's stories, because each person has a unique writing style and many come of with stories that I never would have. 28. Under the Moons of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs

I most enjoy seeing what people choose to write about when they write fictional stories. It is interesting to see what they are thinking about and how they see the world, whether its in a humorous way or an ominous way. The fact these ideas are some of the most interesting things that go on in their minds make these stories more interesting and the wording better. It also gives me an insight to how they think and their true skills and that can be more interesting than their stories.

I like how we can just write about anything we want to. It makes it more fun to write about whatever you want, rather than writing something you have to write about. It's interesting to read everyone's stories because they're all different and creative. I enjoy reading the funny stories especially because they're very entertaining.

The thing I like best about the writer's workshop days is the fact that I can write about whatever I want to. Most papers we have to write in school have to be about a certain topic which can sometimes be boring. I like being able to write about anything I want. My favorite part about the silent share days is reading everyone else's stories. It's fun to know how other people write and what they are interested in. I feel like I can get to know people better just by reading the stories they write.

The thing I enjoy most about the writers workshop and silent share is reading all the stuff people can come up with. Some people have such great ideas. I can never think of creative things like some people do. It is also interesting to read what some people write, because sometimes you would never expect them to write about something that they wrote about. Their writing can be a whole different side of them.

What I enjoy most about writers workshop days is that it gives me a break from doing the other writing lessons that we do. It gives me a chance to write about what ever I want which I actually enjoy doing unlike most assigned topics. I also enjoy reading the comments on my own pieces as well as others. The only time writer’s workshop is a bad thing is when I come across a story that’s three pages long and doesn’t catch my attention.

The one thing I enjoy the most about writers workshop is that I can write about anything that comes to mind. I enjoy just being creative and writing for fun. Reading other peoples stories is entertaining, especially the people who get extremely creative and have the best imaginations.

  39. I like getting to make up my own stories and getting ideas from other peoples stories. When I don't have a clue what to write about, I look at something and come up with an absolutely irrelevant story to the actual object. Some of my favorite stories to write about are more mystery/thriller stories. It gets people on the edge of their seats and pulls them in faster.

  40. During writer's workshop I like how we can write about whatever we want. It can be the most random thing or something that really happened to you. You pick. Silent share days allow me to read what others have wrote about. I like how we can pick the stories we can read. Also, its nice that people can only comment positive things on our stories because its nice to hear the good things somethings instead of things you need to fix.

What I enjoy most about writers writers workshop is the freedom to write. Normally, we have rules and guidelines on what exactly we need to be writing about. But, writers workshop allows us, students, to get back to "free-style" writing. There isn't any pressure and it allows us to enjoy writing. It is also nice to read other people's storys and read something that isn't quote so serious.

I enjoy writers workshop because we have the choice to write about anything we want. We can express ourselves anyway we want, and we have the choice to make something up or tell a real life story. I also enjoy it because i get to read all of the other students stories also. I especially like reading Alex's stories.

  46. During our time writing for Writer's Workshop, I like how we can pick what we want to write about, based on our own personalities. We have the choice of writing a creative story or telling about something that actually happened. Another reason I like it is because it is interesting to see what other classmate's have written about.
